Klaus brings three decades of experience driving innovation in semiconductor technology development and capital equipment product development to Photonic.

With over 80 issued patents, Klaus held key corporate leadership roles at SanDisk as Vice President of Technology, at Applied Materials as Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the Silicon Systems Group, at Cymer/ASML as Group Vice President of EUV Source Development, at Intel as Vice President of Lithography Sourcing, and at PsiQuantum as Senior Vice President of Systems Engineering.

In a significant industry-first, Klaus led the development of Cymer’s EUV source product, culminating in acquisition and integration with ASML, enabling the mainstream adoption of EUV lithography in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

Klaus has a PhD from UC Berkeley for his work on scaling limits and reliability properties of ultra-thin silicon dioxide. He also has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford.
